Clients who don't read booking confirmations and show up on the wrong day

i work on reception at a busy hair salon in cardiff and a lot of the chaos we deal with is honestly preventable. clients book online, don't read the confirmation, show up on the wrong day, and then it's somehow our fault for not calling them. happens more than i'd like to admit. how do other salons reduce this without having to manually call every client to confirm?
