Is Setmore suitable for a barbershop just starting out with limited budget?

Does anyone know if Fresha is fully GDPR compliant? I've been asked by a client where their data is stored and I genuinely couldn't answer. I'm in the UK and want to make sure I'm covered legally before I keep using it. Has anyone looked into this properly or asked Fresha's support team?

I chair-rent and I use SimplyBook.me completely separately from the main salon. You just set your own location as a general Manchester address or your own mobile setup. Clients book with you specifically, not the salon. Works really well and the salon owner doesn't even see my diary.

I asked myself this exact question a year ago. Ended up going with Shedul because it had the best free trial and I could test it properly without committing. a year later I'm still on it. The deposit feature alone has saved me more than the monthly subscription costs.

Honestly? Just go with Square Appointments. I know there are loads of options but for a solo lash studio in the UK it covers everything you actually need — online booking, SMS reminders, deposits, basic reporting. Don't overthink it. Half the features on the premium plans you'll never use.

I asked myself this exact question 6 months ago. Ended up going with Appointy because it had the best free trial and I could test it properly without committing. 6 months later I'm still on it. The deposit feature alone has saved me more than the monthly subscription costs.

I switched from Jane App to Timely about 3 months ago and the main thing I noticed was the client-facing booking page. Timely's is just cleaner and clients seem to complete the booking without getting confused halfway through. If you're worried about looking professional, that matters more than you'd think.

The waiting list feature on Fresha is genuinely good — better than any other system I've tried. When a cancellation comes in it automatically notifies the next person on the waiting list. Has filled ten last-minute slots for me this month alone.

I was asking myself this a year ago. Best decision I ever made was just picking one and starting. SimplyBook.me has a free plan that's genuinely functional. Start there, learn the system, then upgrade when you actually need the paid features. Don't let the choice paralysis stop you from just getting on with it.
