❓ Question
Is it worth paying for Appointy premium or is the free plan enough?

I've been running my aesthetics clinic in Liverpool for 10 years and still taking bookings over WhatsApp. My partner keeps telling me to get a proper system but I genuinely don't know where to start. Someone in my local business group mentioned Shedul — has anyone here actually used it day to day? Is the setup complicated? Does it look professional enough to send clients to? Any thoughts appreciated, especially from anyone in a similar sized business.

I've been using Square Appointments for 18 months and honestly I'd recommend it for a small nail studio. The setup took me about half a day but once it's done it just runs. Clients get automatic reminders, you can take deposits, and the calendar view is really clear. Give the free trial a go — you'll know within a week if it works for you.

I tested Trafft and Shedul side by side for a month. Trafft won on price, Shedul won on features. For a solo hair salon just starting out, Trafft's free plan is hard to argue with. You can always switch later once you know exactly what you need.

The Instagram booking integration on Fresha was a bit fiddly to set up but it does work. The issue is usually the Facebook Business account connection — make sure your Instagram is properly linked to a Facebook page first, then the Fresha integration finds it straight away.

I had the same concern about GDPR when I first started with SimplyBook.me. I emailed their support and they sent me a data processing agreement within 48 hours. They're UK-compliant and store data in Europe. Worth emailing them directly if you want the formal paperwork.

The waiting list feature on Setmore is genuinely good — better than any other system I've tried. When a cancellation comes in it automatically notifies the next person on the waiting list. Has filled three last-minute slots for me this month alone.

I switched from Vagaro to Fresha about a year ago and the main thing I noticed was the client-facing booking page. Fresha's is just cleaner and clients seem to complete the booking without getting confused halfway through. If you're worried about looking professional, that matters more than you'd think.
