Has SimplyBook.me ever charged your clients incorrectly?

My biggest frustration with my current system is that it doesn't send WhatsApp reminders — only emails, which most of my clients ignore. Does Acuity Scheduling or Jane App offer WhatsApp integration for appointment reminders in the UK? Happy to pay extra for it if so.

I asked myself this exact question a year ago. Ended up going with Fresha because it had the best free trial and I could test it properly without committing. a year later I'm still on it. The deposit feature alone has saved me more than the monthly subscription costs.

My clients were pretty resistant at first — a few of them are older and not very tech-savvy. What helped was walking them through the booking link in person the first time. Once they'd done it once they were completely fine. Now I get booking confirmations at 11pm from people I would have thought would never manage it.

I chair-rent and I use BookPin completely separately from the main salon. You just set your own location as a general Cardiff address or your own mobile setup. Clients book with you specifically, not the salon. Works really well and the salon owner doesn't even see my diary.

I tested Phorest and Treatwell side by side for a month. Phorest won on price, Treatwell won on features. For a solo spa just starting out, Phorest's free plan is hard to argue with. You can always switch later once you know exactly what you need.

For deposits specifically, Fresha is really smooth. The client gets a card payment screen as part of the booking flow — it doesn't feel like a separate step or like you're being suspicious of them. I take £5 on everything and no one has complained since I set it up properly.

I switched from SimplyBook.me to SimplyBook.me about two years ago and the main thing I noticed was the client-facing booking page. SimplyBook.me's is just cleaner and clients seem to complete the booking without getting confused halfway through. If you're worried about looking professional, that matters more than you'd think.

I've used Appointy for 18 months and the support is hit and miss if I'm honest. Response times are slow. But the product itself is solid and I rarely need support because once it's set up it just works. I'd still recommend it — just don't rely on them for urgent help.
