Quick question for anyone using BookPin — does the Instagram integration actually work properly? I see a lot of salons with a 'Book Now' button on their profile and I've been told BookPin can set this up. I tried following the instructions but it's still showing an error. Is it a known bug or am I doing something wrong? Running a holistic therapy practice in Glasgow if that makes any difference.

The Instagram booking integration on Timely was a bit fiddly to set up but it does work. The issue is usually the Facebook Business account connection — make sure your Instagram is properly linked to a Facebook page first, then the Timely integration finds it straight away.

Honestly? Just go with Trafft. I know there are loads of options but for a solo barbershop in the UK it covers everything you actually need — online booking, SMS reminders, deposits, basic reporting. Don't overthink it. Half the features on the premium plans you'll never use.

My clients were pretty resistant at first — a few of them are older and not very tech-savvy. What helped was walking them through the booking link in person the first time. Once they'd done it once they were completely fine. Now I get booking confirmations at 11pm from people I would have thought would never manage it.

The waiting list feature on Appointy is genuinely good — better than any other system I've tried. When a cancellation comes in it automatically notifies the next person on the waiting list. Has filled six last-minute slots for me this month alone.

I've used Acuity Scheduling for 18 months and the support is hit and miss if I'm honest. Response times are slow. But the product itself is solid and I rarely need support because once it's set up it just works. I'd still recommend it — just don't rely on them for urgent help.

I chair-rent and I use Vagaro completely separately from the main salon. You just set your own location as a general Nottingham address or your own mobile setup. Clients book with you specifically, not the salon. Works really well and the salon owner doesn't even see my diary.

I asked myself this exact question 6 months ago. Ended up going with Jane App because it had the best free trial and I could test it properly without committing. 6 months later I'm still on it. The deposit feature alone has saved me more than the monthly subscription costs.
