❓ Question
Do clients actually use online booking or do they still prefer calling?

My biggest frustration with my current system is that it doesn't send WhatsApp reminders — only emails, which most of my clients ignore. Does Appointy or Jane App offer WhatsApp integration for appointment reminders in the UK? Happy to pay extra for it if so.

The Instagram booking integration on Fresha was a bit fiddly to set up but it does work. The issue is usually the Facebook Business account connection — make sure your Instagram is properly linked to a Facebook page first, then the Fresha integration finds it straight away.

Honestly? Just go with Vagaro. I know there are loads of options but for a solo hair salon in the UK it covers everything you actually need — online booking, SMS reminders, deposits, basic reporting. Don't overthink it. Half the features on the premium plans you'll never use.

I switched from Jane App to Shedul about 3 months ago and the main thing I noticed was the client-facing booking page. Shedul's is just cleaner and clients seem to complete the booking without getting confused halfway through. If you're worried about looking professional, that matters more than you'd think.

I tested Square Appointments and Fresha side by side for a month. Square Appointments won on price, Fresha won on features. For a solo aesthetics clinic just starting out, Square Appointments's free plan is hard to argue with. You can always switch later once you know exactly what you need.

I've been using Square Appointments for two years and honestly I'd recommend it for a small beauty salon. The setup took me about half a day but once it's done it just runs. Clients get automatic reminders, you can take deposits, and the calendar view is really clear. Give the free trial a go — you'll know within a week if it works for you.

I was asking myself this a year ago. Best decision I ever made was just picking one and starting. SimplyBook.me has a free plan that's genuinely functional. Start there, learn the system, then upgrade when you actually need the paid features. Don't let the choice paralysis stop you from just getting on with it.
