Automated follow-up messages after appointments — does anyone actually do this?

anyone in a healthcare or clinic setting using automated follow-up messages after appointments? as in, prompting patients to book a follow-up or sharing aftercare notes. seems like it could be genuinely useful but i haven't seen it offered much in tools aimed at smaller clinics. is this something that requires a custom solution or does any off-the-shelf tool actually handle it?
