Business Growth ❓ Question

Acuity Scheduling vs Acuity Scheduling — which would you choose for a small brow studio?

I've been considering adding gift vouchers to my brow studio and I've heard Square Appointments has a built-in voucher feature. Has anyone actually used it? Does it work well? Can clients buy them directly from the booking page or do you have to set up something separate? Would love to hear from anyone who's tried it.

The waiting list feature on SimplyBook.me is genuinely good — better than any other system I've tried. When a cancellation comes in it automatically notifies the next person on the waiting list. Has filled six last-minute slots for me this month alone.

I've been using Treatwell for 18 months and honestly I'd recommend it for a small brow studio. The setup took me about half a day but once it's done it just runs. Clients get automatic reminders, you can take deposits, and the calendar view is really clear. Give the free trial a go — you'll know within a week if it works for you.

For a mobile lash studio I'd go with Timely every time. You can set a service area rather than a fixed address, clients can see your availability, and the automated confirmations include all the details they need. Works perfectly without needing a physical premises.

I had the same concern about GDPR when I first started with Square Appointments. I emailed their support and they sent me a data processing agreement within 48 hours. They're UK-compliant and store data in Europe. Worth emailing them directly if you want the formal paperwork.

For multi-staff Acuity Scheduling is excellent. Each person has their own colour-coded calendar, you can set individual hours and services, and clients book with a specific person or with 'any available' if you prefer. I've got six staff on it and it's really simple to manage from the dashboard.

The Instagram booking integration on Fresha was a bit fiddly to set up but it does work. The issue is usually the Facebook Business account connection — make sure your Instagram is properly linked to a Facebook page first, then the Fresha integration finds it straight away.

I've been using Timely for a year and honestly I'd recommend it for a small nail studio. The setup took me about half a day but once it's done it just runs. Clients get automatic reminders, you can take deposits, and the calendar view is really clear. Give the free trial a go — you'll know within a week if it works for you.
