Raising prices without triggering a wave of cancellations

haven't raised prices in eight months. costs up, skills improved, fully booked. all the right conditions for an increase. what i'm dreading is telling existing clients. how did others frame a price increase in a way that felt fair and didn't cause a mass exodus?
