Other clinic owners managing patient relationships entirely through WhatsApp — how?

i've spoken to other clinic owners who've essentially built their entire patient relationship on whatsapp. i get why it happens — it's familiar, clients are already on it — but the lack of structure worries me from a record-keeping and compliance standpoint. is there a way to use whatsapp in a clinical setting that doesn't create problems down the line?
