Instagram clients vs word of mouth — is there a reliability difference?

anyone else find that clients who book through instagram are way less reliable than people who come through word of mouth? feels like there's just less skin in the game when it takes two seconds to send a message. the friction is so low it means nothing. would be curious to know if others have found a way to qualify instagram leads better before blocking out time for them.
