Enforcing a late cancellation policy — lost a couple of patients but worth it

having a clear late cancellation policy and actually enforcing it has made a noticeable difference. lost a couple of patients over it initially and that felt bad. but the ones who've stayed are significantly more reliable and that's better for everyone. how long did it take for the remaining patients to normalise the policy after you introduced it?
